Top Disney by Christopher Lucas: A book review

Hello, friends! I am so excited to share with you this review of Top Disney by Christopher Lucas.

At first, I was skeptical-as a Disney fan, I have seen and heard so many Top Ten lists about many Disney topics. I assumed this book would be much the same: Top Ten Disney songs, Top Ten Disney movies, Top Ten Disney attractions; the list could go on and on, ad nauseam.

I was so surprised when I started by looking at the table of contents and seeing the lists that Chris has compiled. They run the gamut from the Greatest Influences on Walt to Donald Duck Shorts (my favorite character) to Disney Duos and Most Underrated Disney Rides/Attractions.

The Table of Contents caught my attention, so I dived right in. These are no ordinary lists: these lists are carefully and artfully compiled lists, chock-full of information. As I was reading the list of Greatest Influences on Walt, I felt transported back to Walt’s day as a boy growing up and as a man who never quit trying to move forward.

I particularly like that Chris has divided several topics into “Classic” and “Modern,” as it is so hard to compare some of the earlier Disney works to those that are more recent. The topic matter and format combined with the sheer volume of information make this book easy to read, easy to jump around, and easy to enjoy! I know I will be re-reading this book for years to come, and I am excited to be able to recommend it to you whether you are new to Disney or a super fan!
