In my last post, I wrote about five things I was excited about on our upcoming trip. Well, the trip has come and gone, and we are now in a new year, so it’s about time that I let you know how our Disney birthday trip went.
We got to see our best friends! And my sister-in-law! And Disney Belle!
We were able to see them for three days and visit three parks with them. It really is fun to do Disney with friends and family and to share the many fun experiences it has to offer.
It can be challenging, however, to try and coordinate schedules and meeting points. Sometimes you have to think “where will we be” instead of “where are we at,” as it might be faster for both parties to meet up in a different area instead of waiting for someone to find you.
We had so much fun with our best friends-making Fast Passes in Magic Kingdom, meeting up in Club Cool in Epcot (check out our Beverly Challenge!), eating dinner at Coral Reef, and getting caught in the rain in the World Showcase! And how could I forget Toy Story Land and Star Tours!
We were able to spend time with my sister-in-law at the Festival of the Holidays. We ate at a restaurant we have never tried, Restaurant Marrakesh. The food and atmosphere were amazing! We wrapped up our day watching the Candlelight Processional, narrated by John Stamos. More about that later!
No, she wasn’t really drinking both of them! Père Noël in the France Pavilion
And finally, we were able to meet Disney Belle. Be sure to check her out on Facebook and YouTube! We met up at The Seas with Nemo and Friends, and she hung out with us throughout Future World and the Mexico Pavilion. She told my youngest daughter secrets about Spaceship Earth while they rode it together, and my daughter won’t tell me what they are until we ride it together. We also may or may not have sung along with The Three Caballeros on Gran Fiesta Tour (apologies to anyone who heard me sing)! She also took some awesome pictures of us as a family and individually-you can see more of them on her page, Laura Belle Photography. I have met so many people online in the Disney Community, and it is so nice to meet them in person!
Disney Belle and me!
Our daughters’ birthdays!
This wasn’t just any Disney birthday trip. Both our daughters celebrated their birthdays while we were at Walt Disney World! Our daughters had so much fun planning out their special days at Disney. They each picked out a restaurant (T-Rex for Emmarose and Hoop-Dee-Doo for Beth) and the park we visited (Hollywood Studios for Emmarose and Magic Kingdom for Beth). I really enjoy sharing the planning of our trips with my family; I think it makes them feel like they are more invested in it and causes them to appreciate what Disney has to offer more. And of course, their birthday Ears from Magical Mara Designs were a hit! We may have overdone it the first day-all the kids fell asleep at dinner! #dadoftheyear
Toy Story Land
It was so much fun! It really is a feat of Imagineering-all the details that take you down to the size of a toy, like the popsicle stick wall, Woody’s Lunchbox, and Tinker Toys (oh, my childhood!), are just amazing. We enjoyed Alien Swirling Saucers with the Christmas music, and we split up while some of us rode Slinky Dog Dash and the others rode Toy Story Midway Mania. Slinky Dog Dash is a really fun coaster, but since it was dark, I couldn’t get a peek at the Galaxy’s Edge construction. My friend ordered the Totchos from Woody’s Lunchbox, and they looked so good. I would have ordered some myself, but we were eating a late dinner that night after we left the park.
We attended the 5:30 showing of Candlelight Processional, narrated by John Stamos. We had dining package tickets, so I wasn’t worried about getting a seat. However, when we were walking through the Japan Pavilion, we noticed that there were already people in the line for Dining Package tickets at 3:30! We decided to go ahead and get in line-I knew if we didn’t get a good seat for John Stamos, I would be in trouble seeing as there were four ladies in our traveling party. It worked out for the best because it gave us a chance to rest and have a snack while waiting in line. It turned out to be a good idea because the line ended up going all the way back to the Morocco Pavilion!
The Candlelight Processional was absolutely awe-inspiring! The music, the narration, the celebration of the story of Jesus Christ’s birth, all of these elements combined to make a soul-stirring performance. It is definitely something we want to experience again!
Avatar-Flight of Passage
Once again, this attraction did not disappoint! It is hands down the most amazing ride experience I have ever had, and I know my family feels the same way! I think it is even better the second time because I was able to take in more of the details, and I was able to glance at my family and see their reactions. I can’t wait until we go again, because our oldest son hasn’t been to Walt Disney World with us since prior to Pandora opening, and I want to see him experience this for himself!
All told, this was an amazing trip! It was so much fun to get away from the cold of West Virginia and bask in the Florida sunshine. Our daughters had an amazing Disney birthday trip, and we really had a good time taking a shorter trip. Until next time!
