Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

A rich and creamy dessert with layers of cake and cream cheese filling.

  • 9x13 cake pan


  • 1 box pound cake mix (or yellow cake mix)
  • 2 sticks butter softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 16 ounce box 10-X or powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla


  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Reserve one tablespoon of powdered sugar for decoration.
  • Mix cake mix, two sticks of butter, and one egg. Mixture will be thick. Press mixture into the bottom of the pan.
  • Mix cream cheese, two eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth (i use the same bowl from the cake mixture). Pour over cake mixture.
  • Bake or 40 minutes, or until the top starts to brown and crinkle. Cream cheese mixture WILL NOT be set.
  • Allow to cool, and sprinkle reserved powdered sugar over the top of the cake for decoration.
